Rebecca is originally from Cape Town, South Africa, with professional experience in rural development, labor and land justice, health and gender advocacy, food policy, and youth mobilization in South Africa and Southern Africa. From 2017 to 2020, she worked at Women on Farms Project, a feminist NGO that builds the capacity of women living and working on commercial farms to claim their rights. With this and other experiences in civil society, she has developed skills in project design and management, community organizing, psychosocial support, research and advocacy, and network and partnership coordination.
She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Cape Town (South Africa, 2016) and has recently completed an MA in Development Studies, specializing in Agrarian, Food and Environmental Studies, at the International Institute of Social Studies (Netherlands, 2022). Her research work has explored the politics of land, labor, small-scale agriculture and gender movements in South Africa, while drawing learnings from across the Global South.
Rebecca joins Movilizatorio as a Campaigner, bringing over six years of experience in rural policy and social movements. She is passionate about social and environmental justice, and speaks four languages.
