Powerful advocacy communities

What is it?

Together with WARCHILD, PAX and the UN Fund for Peace, we forged and strengthened a protective social and political environment for youth from Afro-descendant and indigenous communities, especially women. This initiative has enabled local collectives in Cali, Jambaló, Caloto and Quibdó to increase their participation in local and regional decision-making spaces.

Challenge

Increase the equal political participation of young people from indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, especially women, so that they can influence peace-building and decision-making processes and face the risks associated with political participation.

Strategy

Together with project partners, we will impact youth organizations to strengthen their organizational capacities, protection mechanisms and support networks. This will be done in order to reach out to local, regional and traditional authorities to improve their knowledge and perception of the participation of Afro-descendant and indigenous youth, especially women.
