I am Alejandra Urbano Peña, a political scientist with an emphasis in government and international relations from the Universidad Autónoma de Manizales. My degree is inscribed in my title as a foreigner, born in Bogota and raised in different corners of the country. Since February 2024, I left my family in Armenia to formally start my work experience in Movilizatorio in the city of Bogota.
I am an openly lesbian woman, committed to the struggle for the recognition of human rights and the visibility of sexual diversities, under the premise that there is nothing more political than the body and sexuality itself. Throughout my professional career, I have focused my efforts and studies in addressing subversive sexualities in academic instances, understanding these as those that challenge the dichotomous and heterosexual plane that the cis-hetero-patriarchal system has imposed as hegemonic.
My professional experience has focused on social projects, research and development, with emphasis on social control to public management, community governance and gender equity, always from an intersectional and institutional perspective. I had the privilege of working as an intern and support professional in development and peace programs, where I was responsible for articulating methodological routes with differential approaches, gender and human rights, for the construction of Community Development Plans in several municipalities in the Central Magdalena region.
In my current role as a partnership strategist, I am most passionate about the opportunity to connect our organization with resources and expertise. Strategic alliances allow us to access funds, advanced technologies and specialized expertise that are essential to carrying out high-impact projects and transforming realities. I am motivated by the expandability and scalability that these collaborations offer, and it is gratifying to see how we can extend our reach to new communities and markets in pursuit of a more equitable world.
